Delight in the Woods

Delight in the Woods strengthens children’s creative and academic learning and life skills through immersive storytelling – the programme encourages children to free their imagination, tell their story, write what they feel and create a unique devised performance.

This has been a life-changing experience for my son.

Created by Delight in partnership with Zoo Co Theatre Company and the National Trust team at Box Hill and delivered with the support of teaching staff, Delight in the Woods immerses Year 3 children in ‘StoryLand’ where they encounter a host of intriguing characters facing a range of dilemmas

The immersive, unfolding experience ignites the imaginations of the children and empowers them in their role as ‘The Best Storytellers in the World’. The programme is tailored specifically to the individual children, working with the class teacher to present a truly unique and magical immersive programme.

Wow!!! Thank you all. You truly engaged all the children.

Impact Measurement

Impact Measurement is an essential element of Delight’s work and an area we strive for excellence in. During our Delight in the Woods pilot we worked with the class teacher, children, parents and arts partners to gather data and case studies to help us understand the success of our work on children’s wellbeing, learning and creative development.

Delight in the Woods Impact

Delight in the Woods is delivered in partnership with:

Zoo Co Theatre Company

Zoo Co was established in 2013 and has since created three critically acclaimed indoor productions, and two site specific shows, that have toured to over 30 venues across the UK and internationally. Playfulness is at the heart of Zoo Co’s work. Their desire to do what feels natural even if it seems silly, outrageous, vulnerable or brave makes them the perfect partner for Delight in the Woods.

Box Hill National Trust

Box Hill, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, is looked after by the National Trust. It is special not only for its rare chalk grassland and ancient woodland but also for the diverse pool of visitors that have been attracted to its slopes and far-reaching views for centuries. With the ambition to use exploration and play to grow future engagement with the trust, the National Trust at Box Hill are an ideal arts partner.
